Our team leads a 501c3 nonprofit organization called Getaway Growth. We aren’t trying to promote any one booking platform, destination, tour operator or agent.
Instead, it is our heart and mission to help people like you have life-changing travel experiences - especially when they can both give to and receive from the people they meet on the other side of the globe.
This eBook is just one small way to serve you and give you a taste of what we’re all about.
II. How we created it:
We didn’t create this eBook by taking ideas from the top blogs on travel, putting them into our own words and rehashing them.
Instead, we had in-depth conversations as a team, distilling our most helpful ideas into this resource. Our goal is for this to act like a little personal travel consultant, guiding you toward the information that’s not easy to obtain with a quick web search.
Most travel advice
I. Who they are:
Most travel tips and strategies you can find online are created by airlines, tour operators, hotels, and/or travel agents.
They often are valuable and give advice on how to get deals, have a great trip or discover fascinating places to see.
However, each one of these creators are also trying to sell you to use their platform, pick their destination, or work with them to book your travel. Much of the advice they give is biased!
II. How they create it:
While many of these other content creators write from their own extensive travel experience (there are some truly amazing, unbiased creators out there!), many companies hire writers to create advice based on the product, platform, services, flights, accommodations, or tours they are trying to sell.
The advice might be wise or helpful, but it's goal isn't to help you ultimately have life-changing travel.

Who is Getaway Growth?
Our organization originated from the personal growth each of the board members experienced during international travel.
Each member appreciates the personal development experienced through immersion in diverse communities and their cultural values. We believe that, due to the educational value of being immersed in cultures different from your own, access to the opportunity of having international experiences needs to be provided to currently under-served communities.
Getaway Growth seeks to give the opportunity to young adults (who would otherwise never be able to afford it) to travel overseas for 3-4 weeks. In these all-expense-paid trips they will participate in career and leadership building workshops, while volunteering and immersing themselves in a culture. At the same time, they will be learn about and experience responsible tourism.
